The world of business finance might seem like a tricky one to navigate, but there are so many services available to you, should you need any guidance. Check out the latest funding opportunities from SBRI and Horizon 2020:
SBRI funding competitions
The Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) provides innovative solutions to challenges faced by the public sector, leading to better public services and improved efficiency and effectiveness. It generates new business opportunities for companies, provides SMEs a route to market for their ideas and bridges the seed funding gap experienced by many early stage companies.
SBRI: intelligent data to transform local council service delivery
This competition is sponsored by Durham County Council and Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council. They want to gather and analyse data from new sources, such as information collected by residents or data captured using council vehicles. They will use this data and analysis to improve delivery across their services. To find out more and apply, click here.
SBRI: finding a solution to Hylobius abietis in Scottish forestry
Organisations can apply for a share of £150,000, including VAT, to develop innovative ways to reduce mortality of young forest trees in Scotland caused by pine weevil damage. Your application must have at least 50% of the contract value attributed directly and exclusively for R&D services. R&D can cover solution exploration and design. It can also include prototyping and field-testing the product or service. Applications close at 12pm on Wednesday 31st October – apply here.
SBRI: Perth Smart Energy Network project
The aim of the competition is to develop a smart, flexible energy system in the various sites of the estate of Perth and Kinross council (PKC). You must be able to test your solution in the Perth and Kinross area of Scotland and have a clear plan for commercialising the proposed solution. Find out more and apply here.
There are also opportunities for funding through the Horizon 2020 programme, which focuses on European projects in research and innovation. To find out more, click here.
